"The Royal Holiday" is a captivating mixed media artwork that celebrates the historic Royal Hawaiian Hotel, built in 1927. Using a photograph as its foundation, the piece evolves into a painting and is brought to life with vibrant makeup applied to add rich color, texture, depth, and sparkles that reflect the light, creating a striking three-dimensional effect.
 
This artwork showcases the hotel known as “The Pink Palace of the Pacific,” with a perfect pink sky that melts into the tranquil, light blue ocean, beautifully blending historical charm with contemporary artistic techniques to evoke the feeling of timeless Hollywood glamour in Hawai’i.
 
My artwork begins as a photograph that I put on canvas, and is then painted with layers of makeup, acrylic paint, and sometimes other mediums to create depth, texture, and illumination.
