Aloha,
I 'm Danielle!

the artist behind illuminated ART™

For 20 years before my move to Oahu, I was a Local 706 Makeup Artist in Hollywood. To say it is and was the coolest job ever is an understatement!

My career took me to so many places, introduced me to so many people, and allowed me to create amazing on people’s faces. I never thought I would want to stop working on television and movie sets, behind the scenes with truly incredible actors and other makeup artists.

Some of my favorite Hollywood moments

but all that changed...

...one sweet day in February of 2014, when my husband and I were blessed with our first beautiful daughter. I was and am forever changed by becoming a mother.

But suddenly the fun of staying on set all hours of the night and being in the spotlight were no longer important, long hours away from home slowly becoming a nuisance that kept me away from the new tiny human that had just entered my world.

However, for the next five years we made it work. I shifted to live broadcasts to be on set for shorter hours, and our second daughter made her way into the world. But when my husband got the call to work in Hawaii in 2019, I knew the opportunity to change our location and lifestyles went beyond just the call for his job.

So we moved to Oahu...

...and I began taking pictures of the beautiful island I am now fortunate enough to call home. Before leaving LA, I had dreams of printing my photos on canvases, painting top of them to bring them to life.

But at first I couldn’t quite figure out how to make that happen. About a month after living on island I decided I was going to try it.

So I printed my very first piece on canvas. I started searching for the paints I had imagined in my dreams but couldn’t get the results I had imagined and dreamed of...

That's when it hit me like lightning!

I spent twenty years using makeup to create highlights and shadows that illuminate faces, so what if I could translate that knowledge and skill to my canvases?

I found some different mixing media and started mixing my makeup into them to bring out highlights and shadows and create motion, texture, and dimension.

I began to see the light and life return to my images, and out of this novel way of painting, illuminated ART was born.
