My new art piece, titled "The Legend is Born," captures the essence of history and beauty by blending the legacy of Duke Kahanamoku with the breathtaking views of Waikīkī. In this work, I've incorporated multiple areas of raised texture, particularly in the rock wall that replicates the Waikīkī War Memorial Natatorium, inviting viewers to engage with the physical details. The composition frames a stunning vista of Waikīkī, seen through an opening in the brick structure, symbolizing a connection to the past and the memorable moments that occurred where Olympic medalist Duke Kahanamoku once swam. This piece not only honors a legendary figure in Hawaiian culture but also celebrates the enduring charm of the iconic landscape he cherished.
