Memories of Maui is a vibrant love letter to the shores of West Maui, capturing a "perfect moment" at the Honua Kai. Framed by the resort’s lush, tropical gardens, the artwork opens up to the legendary glow of a Kāʻanapali sunset. At the center of this serene composition, a lone surfboard rests against the greenery—a quiet, iconic reminder of a day surrendered to the Pacific.
Beyond the landscape, the piece is a vessel for a deeply personal family milestone. It commemorates a Thanksgiving journey that coincided with my daughter’s birthday. That celebratory spirit is woven into the very fabric of the image, transforming a traditional sunset into a "fun and vibrant world" filled with life and gratitude.
 
To balance the majestic scale of the Maui sky with the intimacy of the gardens, I added extra floral bits and tropical botanicals to create a lush, tactile frame that draws the viewer into the scene.
